At a closed meeting held on 23.12.2019, the Energy and water regulatory commission (EWRC) approved changes on the cap prices for transactions on the balancing market. The changes mainly affect the cap price for up-regulation, which until now was determined as the daily average sport price (DAM) on IBEX multiplied by a coefficient 2.5.
The new decision of the commission goes from average daily spot prices to an hourly spot prices. So the cap price for transaction on the balancing market for up-regulation now equals the hourly spot price + 100 BGN/MWh.
The cap price for down-regulation remains the same – 0.00 BGN/MWh. Note that the cap prices for up and down regulation do not apply to the balancing energy purchased / sold to/from neighboring energy systems under bilateral agreements or from the regional balancing market.
