According to the 24 chasa newspaper, the Electricity System Operator has received applications for the construction of 15 200 MW of capacity using renewable energy sources (RES) in the last 3 years.
Since the beginning of 2022, 7 preliminary contracts have been concluded with ESO for large RES power plants with total capacity of 176 MW and 24 with DSOs for 202 MW. For comparison – last year the applications for direct connection to the ESO’s network were 118 for 8 601 megawatts and 514 applications for 762 megawatts to the network of electricity distribution companies. Preliminary contracts were for 807 megawatts. The final contracts are two for 15.63 megawatts for plants for self-consumption and 28.5 megawatts for a renewable power plant near Razlog.
According to the executive director of ESO, Angelin Tsachev, 2 000 MW of these 15 200 are for wind power in the region of Northeastern Bulgaria.
