The Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov, in compliance with the decision of his political party resigned on 13.06.2022. The Minister will continue to perform his duties even in resignation until the appointment of a new Minister of Energy.
More than a week later, on 22.06.2022, the National Assembly voted no confidence in the cabinet. As a result, the Prime Minister, Kiril Petkov submitted the resignation of the government on 27.06.2022. At the moment, the current government is resigned, but the ministers continue to perform their official duties.
There will be three opportunities for forming a new cabinet. If none is approved by the members of the parliament, a caretaker government will be appointed and new elections will be held in the fall.
