Significant decrease was observed in 2019 compared to 2018 in hydropower generation and electricity export. The two indicators are interrelated, usually higher levels of exports are typical for years with more generation from HPPs.
The generation of conventional power plants also decreases by 1.54%, which is mainly due to the lower demand during the year and the reduced generation from TPP Maritsa East 2, which operated on average on 42% of its maximum capacity in 2019.
Positive is the growth in the electricity produced from photovoltaic plants, an increase of 13.15%. There is also an increase in biomass energy and a slight decrease in electricity generated from wind power plant.
