The Ministry of Energy announced that with order of minister of energy Mrs. Temenujka Petkova the export of electricity originating from Bulgaria is banned, but the transit of energy through the country is not restricted. The order of the energy minister is addressed to Electricity system operator (ESO). To ESO was imposed a specific public obligation to suspend all exports of electricity originating from Bulgaria starting from 00:00 CET (01:00 local Bulgarian time) on January 13th, 2017 till the full recovery of the reserves needed for the functioning of the electricity system in the country.
According to the Ministry such measure is required to guarantee the security of the electricity system during the severe winter conditions, which led to disbalance between generation and consumption on local and regional level.
