Independent Bulgarian energy exchange (IBEX) announced that according to officially submitted information from Bulgarian Energy Holding AD the constrains over the offered volumes of electricity on the Bulgarian day ahead market, from the side of the BEH EAD subsidiaries, will be removed from delivery day 02.02.2017 Thursday (trading day 01.02.2017).
BEH reduced the offered volumes of electricity on Bulgarian energy exchange from trading day 09.01.2017 corresponding to delivery day 10.01.2017. This restriction was followed by a ban of the export of energy originating from Bulgaria in force since 13.01.2017. The announced reason for undertaking such restrictive measures was guaranteeing the security of the electricity system and the security of supply for the regulated market during the severe winter conditions. At the moment the export ban is still in force even though the meteorological conditions are much better and the demand has lowered.
Bulgarian energy holding has an engagement with the European Commission on case AT. 39767 to provide liquidity to the day-ahead market operated by IBEX by supplying minimum quantities of electricity from its power plants and more specifically average volumes during:
- first year – 293 MW
- second year – 373 MW
- third year – 484 MW
- forth year – 613 MW
- fifth year – 807 MW
