Bulgargaz will have to find a way to return the surplus money to businesses that they have paid on the free market for natural gas. This was decided yesterday by the MPs after adopting the amendments to the Energy Act. The decision came after Gazprom agreed to repay BGN 150 million, which were overpaid by Bulgargaz.
“The amounts to be recovered are approximately 22,800,000 for end suppliers, ie. gas distribution companies. About 72 million are the money for district heating companies and about 56 million for businesses as of December 31, 2019. The total amount covered by this law is about 154 million.” This was stated by Chairman of the Energy Committee in the Parliament, Valentin Nikolov. “On average, about 2 months after the law enters into force and after the Regulator recalculate the prices, each customer must receive back their money.
The overpaid amount must be deducted from the first bill, Nikolov explained. The problem is, that you may not get the money right away because you are now paying more than last year. Most likely you will owe money to your district heating company, the MP said.
