The National Assembly ratified the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Republic of Bulgaria Greece on the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnection, signed in Sofia on October 10 last year. The document was also approved by parliament`s energy committee on Tuesday (30.06.2020).
The agreement settles the distribution of revenues from the project on a territorial basis, in which the total profit from the transmission of natural gas through the pipeline is distributed between the two countries in proportion to the length of the new route in each of the two territories.
The gas pipeline has a total length of approximately 182 kilometers, of which 151 kilometers are on Bulgarian territory. The gas pipeline will have a major strategic role and the direct effect will be to achieve diversification of natural gas supply sources for Bulgaria and the natural gas market in Southeast Europe.
Ratification was adopted without debate.
