During the discussion “Energy market – the liberalization continues?” Victoria Popovska announced that Electricity system operator (ESO) is prepared to start coupling of the day-ahead market. According to ESO a new regional center will be established between Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Kosovo and Turkey for implicit allocation of capacities.
Till 2018 the 4M market coupling which includes Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania should be joining the countries part of Multi-Regional Coupling (MRC). Then, it will be possible for Bulgaria to couple with Romania and 4M, because Bulgaria is already part of MRC.
Mrs. Popovska stated that ESO wants to join the Joint Allocation Office (JAO) in order to use the European rules for capacity allocation between the borders of Romania, Bulgaria and Greece starting from 2018.
