Electricity system operator (ESO) has published in the draft of the “Plan for the Development of the Transmission Electricity Network in Bulgaria for the period 2020-2029”.
The 10-year development plan contains information about the electricity transmission infrastructure that is envisaged for construction, expansion, reconstruction and modernization over the next ten years. It ensures timely construction and commissioning of new elements of the electricity transmission network was developed by a team of ESO’s experts.
The 10-year development plan contains the following main information:
- analysis of electricity consumption in the electricity system of Bulgaria and forecast for the development of demand by 2029;
- analysis of the generation capacities in the power system of Bulgaria, including from renewable energy sources (RES);
- forecasted generation and energy balances of the electricity system;
- possibilities for managing and analyzing the flexibility of generation capacities: baseload generation, priority generation capacities, balancing and reserve capacities, regulating capacities;
- development of the electricity transmission network, including construction of new interconnectors;

All interested parties could send their proposals and comments on the draft plan to eso@eso.bg by 16.04.2020. After taking into account the comments received, the 10-year plan 2020-2029 will be submitted for approval to the Energy and water regulatory commission.
