The 3rd international high level meeting in Athens, “Energy Commodities Conference 2017”, took place on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th of May 2017. Main part of the discussions was devoted to principle evolution of the Power Markets in CEE and SEE, always as part of the planned European Single Market. The event brought together experts from power exchanges, traders, energy regulators, regional institutions and provided a platform for active cooperation.
Martin Georgiev as a chairman of Association of traders with electricity in Bulgaria /ATEB/ took part in the conference and ATEB was official supporting partner of the event. Mr. Georgiev introduced to the participants the development of the liberalization process of the energy market in Bulgaria. In his presentation he highlighted the role of Independent Bulgarian energy exchange /IBEX/ for the Bulgarian market and illustrated the milestones of IBEX development.
This year’s event focused on the role of Power Exchanges in coupled markets, on the transition of LAGIE under Target Model directives, on the 2ndary market for ‘NOME’ products in the Greek market, on the Capacity Assurance Mechanisms in different countries under the EU directives as well as on entrepreneur solutions and services offered by energy retailers in their ‘fight’ for market share. In addition, information was provided about state of the art IT solutions for Energy Companies during the last session of the Agenda.
