Only license holders will be able to trade in natural gas, according to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission.
According to the adopted amendments to the Energy Act as of 01.10.2021, the activity “trading with natural gas” will be carried out on the basis of an issued license. (Article 39, paragraph 1, item 5).
Pursuant to § 16 of the Transitional and Final Provisions from 01.01.2021 natural gas traders should submit to the EWRC applications for issuance of a license. According to Art. 41, para. 1 of the Energy Act, the procedure for issuing a license is initiated upon a written application, to which all necessary documents are enclosed.
To date, 17 applications for a natural gas trading license have been submitted to the Commission.
In view of the timely consideration of the received applications for issuance of licenses and ruling on them, EWRC reminds that the statutory period in which the Commission issues or refuses to issue a license is up to 3 months from the submission of application (Art. 41, para. 3 of the EA).
All interested parties should take into account the statutory deadlines and requirements for submitting an application for issuance of license, as this is in the interest of the applicants themselves.
