From January 1, 2020 the entry point for Russian natural gas to Bulgaria is changing. Bulgargaz EAD will receive natural gas at the Strandzha delivery point. Until now, the entry point for the country was Negru Voda. This was announced at a briefing given by the Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.
As a result of the agreements reached between Bulgargaz EAD and Gazprom Export, the delivery prices for Bulgarian household and industrial consumers of natural gas are expected to decrease by 5% annually, announced the Minister of energy. This saving will be a result of the elimination of access and transmission fees for the transit through the territory of Romania. The savings are expected to be in the amount of BGN 76 million. Those fees will not be paid by Bulgargaz EAD and Bulgarian natural gas consumers in the upcoming 2020. Bulgarian supplier Bulgargaz is expected to achieve a positive financial result of approximately BGN 4.6 million for the 2019/2020 gas year due to the lower tariffs at Strandzha entry point, announced Bulgartransgaz EAD.
According to Minister Petkova from January 2nd is starting gas trading on the Bulgarian natural gas exchange – Gas Hub Balkan EAD the segments for short-term and long-term trading and brokerage service.
For the first time this year, Bulgargaz conducted several tenders and concluded contracts the supply of liquefied natural gas, including from the USA, in the amount of 403 million cubic meters. For the supply in January another 100 million cubic meters of LNG have been contracted.
