From the beginning of April 2022, the implementation of stage 1 of the introduction of the uniform format for data exchange is expected to go-live. This is the automation of the processes of providing information between network operators (NO) and market participants (MP). Stage one envisages automatic exchange of data on the measured hourly quantities of electricity. Further steps, to be introduced at a later stage, will make it possible to change balancing group and electricity supplier, as well as to terminate electricity supply and balancing contracts, by using the uniform format for data exchange.
In September 2021, the Electricity System Operator (ESO) announced a schedule for testing the exchange of data on quantities of electricity by settlement periods between network operators and retailers.
The test scenario envisages several steps in conducting tests between NOs and TPs. Successful completion of a test requires the provision of data by the NO for all MP’s measurement points for a period of one month, download and confirmation of data from the MP.
After the last test period, which started on January 17, 2022, the results of the participation of MPs are the following:
- MPs, successfully passed the tests;
- MPs, started tests, but the tests were not completed successfully;
- MPs who have not declared participation in tests.
Due to the fact that there are still MPs that have not completed the tests successfully and even such that have not yet applied to participated in the tests, ESO arranged two additional test periods in February, between 14 and 18 and between 21 and 25 February.
The NO will not send data using the old method after April 1, 2022, that is why ESO invites all MPs that did not participate in the tests or did not complete them successfully to be included in the schedule for February 2022.
For registered and newly registered market participants, the successful conduct of tests for data exchange by settlement periods is a mandatory requirement to enter the market, applicable from April 1, 2022 and about which the Regulator was informed.
